ORTO is home to many beloved establishments such as Prawning @ ORTO, the largest freshwater pond in Singapore at Fishing Paradise and more – and we’ll certainly miss these attractions when ORTO closes in 2023.

1. Prawning @ ORTO
Catch your own prawns at Prawning @ ORTO’s large prawn ponds, and grill them on the spot, 24 hours daily. Prawning is fun for all ages, and for those who have never tried fishing before, this experience is beginner friendly. After you’ve hooked on the bait and successfully reeled in your catch, you can wash and skewer your prawns before putting them on the electric grill provided. Pair them with dipping sauce and you’ve got yourself a feast.
What’s more, you can catch as many prawns you want – all you have to do is pay by the hour for an unlimited amount of prawns! We’ll definitely miss Prawning @ ORTO when it goes, so head down for a unique prawning experience.

2. Longkang Fishing
Apart from its prawning ponds, Prawning @ ORTO also has longkang fishing in its large pond complex. The little ones can try their hand at catching their own fish in the establishment’s longkang setup, with a plastic tank and a fishing net to put their fish in. You can take home the fish you catch and raise them, making it both a fun and educational experience for the kids.

3. Fishing Paradise at ORTO
Known for having the largest freshwater fish pond in Singapore, Fishing Paradise at ORTO lives up to its name with various species of freshwater fish you can catch in the pond. Sadly, they are closing after 13 years of being at ORTO. They are also organising a farewell fishing event on 11 December where you can fish your heart out. What’s more, if you catch the most Red-tail Catfish, Alligator Gar, Stingray, Carp, and Pacu & Toman, you’ll walk away with a commemorative prize. Tickets to the event are priced at S$65 and include a goodie bag and event T-shirt.

4. Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum
If you haven’t been to the Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum just yet, it’s time to make your way down. After its relocation to ORTO from Chinese Lake Gardens, it’s finding a new home again for when ORTO closes in 2023. Before that happens, come over and feed adorable turtles and tortoises here, and marvel at the large tortoises that currently call ORTO their home. The museum is currently looking for a new space, so keep a lookout on their socials!

5. Katapult Trampoline Park
Get your adrenaline pumping at Katapult Trampoline Park, where you can try out trampoline dodgeball, wall running, free falling and other exhilarating activities. Katapult also organises fitness classes like trampoline workshops and a professional fitness circuit. We’ll certainly miss Katapult’s trampoline park, so head down before 2023.

7. BKK Bistro and Bar
There’s a variety of food to be found at ORTO, and BKK Bistro and Bar will satisfy your Thai food cravings. With delicious boat noodles (80c), flavourful Tom Yum Hotpot (S$26.80), and classic desserts like Mango Sticky Rice (S$7.80), the bistro is not to be missed. BKK Bistro and Bar will be closing down permanently after ORTO closes down in 2023, so visit the bistro at least once before it closes.

8. SEA Kitchen
SEA Kitchen serves up Asian fusion food, from Thai curry (S$9.50) to Malaysian claypot noodles (S$9.50). What’s most enticing is their current beer tower promotion, which gets you a 3-litre tower of beer at only S$39!

9. Kamikaze Asian Tapas
Kamikaze Asian Tapas isn’t your ordinary restobar, with ferris wheel fries, onsen egg spaghetti, and skewers of every kind imaginable. 15. Special Mention: Nanyang Trading Aquarium
While Nanyang Trading Aquarium isn’t technically in ORTO, you can’t visit ORTO without making a stop at one of the biggest aquarium complexes in Singapore. From fighting fish to more aquatic creatures, the aquarium has a wide variety of fish and is sure to entertain the whole family. There is also a large range of aquarium equipment, decor and more on sale if you’re planning to maybe set up a lovely little fish tank (or a gorgeous planted aquarium) at home!
