Elden Ring Millicent Questline: The Definitive Guide (2023)

Millicent is a young woman in Elden Ring you come across in the Church of the plague. She has an incurable diseases of the Scarlet rot. She bestows a quest on the player that’ll lead to some amazing rewards. While Some quests can be completed quickly, like the Jerren quest, while others similar to the Ranni questline take a lot of time to complete in Elden Ring’s map. As for the Elden Ring Millicent questline, it belongs to the latter group.

Key Highlights

• Millicent Questline begins with your interaction with Gowry, who can be found in his Shack in Caelid. Gowry’s Shack is located near the Aeonia Swamp.
• Gowry will ask the player to help the young lady named Millicent, who is infected with Scarlet Rot. To help Millicent the player needs an Unalloyed Gold needle which is dropped by Commander O’Neil located in the Swamp of Aeonia.
• Give the Unalloyed Gold needle to Gowry and let him repair it. Rest at a nearby Site of Grace and visit him afterward to take the needle from him.
• Visit the Church of Plague to meet an infected Millicent. The path to the Church of Plague from Gowry’s Shack is unlocked after completing the Selia Town of Sorcery puzzle.
• After giving her the Unalloyed Gold needle and resting at the nearby Site of Grace, Millicent will provide Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom to the player.
• Now go to Gowry’s Shack, exhaust Millicent’s dialogue, and then rest at the Site of Grace. Upon reload, Millicent will have moved on from the area, and Gowry will be back in his shack.
• Now make your way to Altus Plateau and rest at Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace. To the northeast of this Site of Grace, you can find Millicent standing near the cliff.
• Get her Valkyrie Prosthesis from the Shaded Castle. The Prosthesis is found on the north-western edge of the castle, in a room guarded by a single Clearnrot Knight.
• After giving her the Valkyrie Prosthesis, Millicent will move to Mountain Top of Giants. She can be found standing near the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace.
• The player will need two halves of Rold Medallion to get to her next location. The first half of Rold Medallion is located in the Village of Albinauric, and the second half can be found in Castle Sol after defeating Commander Niall.
• Using the Medallion at the lift, head to Haligtree. Once there, Millicent can be found standing in the Prayer Room Site of Grace in Elpheal, Brace of Haligtree.
• Now defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, which can be found near the Drainage Channel Site of Grace.
• Once the mini-boss is defeated, there will be two summon signs (invasion sign and co-op sign) near the location, Ulcerated Tree Spirit was previously in.
• If the player sided with Millicent, the player would be granted Unalloyed Gold Needle, but if sided against her, the player would be given Millicent’s Prosthesis.
• The Unalloyed Gold Needle can be later used on the flower that spawns in Malena’s arena upon her defeat to gain Miquella’s Needle and Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
• Returning and interacting with Gowry will end the quest as the player learns about the connection between Millicent and Malenia.

Elden Ring is filled with secrets and hidden quests, which you won’t be able ever to discover if you don’t know where to go. Who Is Millicent In Elden Ring

One of the most important NPC in Elden Ring is Millicent and she has an extensive questline that will reward you with incredible items and armaments upon completion. Many players always look to complete Millicent Questline first, as she gives you a lot of valuable items in return.

Millicent is a young woman that you will come across in Elden Ring, and unfortunately, she is infected with an incurable case of Scarlet Rot. Gowry sends out players to find her so that the Scarlet Rot she suffers from can be cured.

When you progress further through her questline and complete it, you will be able to unlock her as an NPC summon corporate that will help you in the intensive boss battles of Elden Ring.

Also, she can be encountered as an NPC invader. Millicent will invade the player every time they will visit the swamp of Aeonia. She will use Shamshir to attack and has light armor. However, she has the Waterfowl Dance skill like Malenia.

Also, the NPC has a defined moveset and can be fought. When you defeat her as an NPC invader, you will get 6000 Runes. Furthermore, she is immune to Scarlet Rot but you can deal damage to her using Poison. You can summon Millicent when fighting with some bosses in Elden Ring.

Millicent Questline In Elden Ring

The Millicent questline revolves around getting Miquella’s Needle. We’ll explain its importance in detail later, but it’s necessary to get it if you want to save yourself from massive trouble. The needle won’t be easy to get, but we’ll explain everything in detail about what you need to do. Hopefully, through our guide, you’ll be able to progress through the quest line quickly and easily. And before you begin this quest, it’s important to get some of the best weapons and the best Ashes of War for your journey, as these will help you take down the enemies you’ll encounter quickly.

Before we get into the details, here’s a quick summary of what you’ll be doing in Elden Ring Millicent’s questline:

1. Go to Gowry’s Shack and talk to Gowry.
2. Get the Unalloyed Gold Needle from Commander O’Neil.
3. Meet Millicent at the Church of the Plague.
4. Get the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis from the Shaded Castle.
5. Hand over the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis to Millicent.
6. Defeat Godskin Apostle.
7. Meet Millicent at the Windmill Heights Site of Grace.
8. Get the Rold Medallion.
9. Defeat Godfrey, the First Elden Lord.
10. Defeat Margott, the Omen King.
11. Go to the Mountaintops of the Giants.
12. Go to the Ancient Snow Valley Runs Site of Grace.
13. Meet Millicent in the Prayer Room at the Haligtree (You will need Haligtree Medallion to reach this place).
14. Choose whether you want to kill Millicent or aid her in combat.
15. Killing her will end the quest.
16. If you choose to aid her in combat, you’ll get the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
17. Use the Unalloyed Gold Needle to Get Miquella’s Needle.
18. Visit the Dragonlord Placidusax.
19. Use the Miquella’s Needle to tame the Flame of Frenzy.

Now that we have briefly talked about what you’ll be doing in this quest, let’s dive into the details.

Go To Gowry’s Shack

You won’t be meeting Millicent at the beginning of the quest, as you’ll first need to visit another NPC. First, go to Gowry’s Shack, where you’ll meet this NPC to begin the quest. The Gowry’s Shack is located in Caelid, just south of the Town of Sellia. This town is also known as the Town of Sorcery. While you’re at it, consider reading our Elden Ring revive NPCs guide if you mistakenly killed one in the game.

After you have reached the location, head inside the Shack, and you’ll meet an NPC called Gowry. This is where the quest begins. Interacting with him will initiate a conversation, during which he will tell how he wants to heal a girl. For this, he will assign you the task to find the Unalloyed Gold Needle in Swamp of Aeonia, another location on the Caelid map. While looking for the needle, you will encounter the first boss of this questline.

Get The Unalloyed Gold Needle

To get the Unalloyed Gold Needle, you will need to head to the Inner Aeonia Site of Grace. Its exact location can be seen in the image below. This Site of Grace is near where the boss spawns, and it’s important to activate as you won’t respawn far away if you get killed by the boss.

Once done, head to the south-eastern side of the Site of Grace, and you’ll find the Commander O’Neil boss in the circle of trees. Commander O’Neil isn’t a weak boss, and he will make you go through a good amount of trouble. The annoying thing about him is his ability to summon help in the middle of battle. Because of this, he isn’t the only enemy you’ll need to fight.

However, while Commander O’Neil may be tough and all, he can be taken down easily if you manage to bring him back all the way to the Inner Aeonia Site of Grace, which you activated before searching for him. Near this Site of Grace, you’ll find Scarlot Rot geysers which you can use to your advantage. By using them, you’ll be able to drain his health quickly. It will also be wise to bring along a powerful spirit who can keep O’Neil distracted as you land your attacks on him. You can also fight him while riding Torrent, but only if you know how to control your mount properly. Otherwise, you’ll only put yourself at a great disadvantage.

After successfully eliminating him, you’ll be able to pick up the Unalloyed Gold Needle from his corpse.

This Gold needle will play a big during the final parts of the Millicent questline in Elden Ring. Furthermore, you’ll also get his weapon, the Commander’s Standard. Return Back to Gowry

With the Unalloyed Gold Needle in your hands, it’s time to return to Gowry, who will be eagerly waiting for your arrival. After reaching Gowry’s Shack, give him the needle, and he will give you the Sellia’s Secret in return. But before you can progress through the quest further, you will need to visit Gowry once again. Since you’ll already be standing right in front of him, you can either use the fast travel option to go somewhere else and return back to him or reload the game. Both of them will do the job. Once done, talk to Gowry again, and he will give you the repaired needle this time.

Go and Meet Milicent

After getting the repaired version of the needle from Gowry, it’s time to go and finally meet Millicent. She can be found at the Church of the Plague. This Church is located east of Gowry’s Shack. On the map, it will look near, and you’ll think that you can go there instantly. But the Church is at the top of a cliff. To reach there, you can either light the beacons in the village thanks to the Secret of Sellia Gowry gave you, or visit Bestial Sanctum and then use Torrent to make your way there.

After you reach the Church of the Plague, you will find an injured version of Millicent. To heal her, you will need to give her the Unalloyed Gold Needle that you got from Gowry. Once done, go and sit down at the nearby Site of Grace and then get up from it. Go back to Millicent again, and you’ll see that she is now back up on her feet, all thanks to you and Gowry, of course. Talk to her, and she will reward you with the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom Talisman for saving her from death. This Tailsman is pretty useful as it can raise your dexterity by 5.

Return Back to Gowry’s Shack

With Millicent healed, you will need to return back to Gowry once again. After talking to Gowry at his Shack, open the map to fast travel to a nearby Site of Grace and return to his Shack. This time, you’ll find Millicent waiting for you. Interacting with her will start a conversation, after which you will need to reload the game once again, which will make Millicent move to her next area. From this point onwards, Gowry will act as a merchant as well, as you’ll be able to purchase his Pest Bells spells from him. You might also encounter him again during the Millicent questline, but that depends upon the choices you’ll make throughout the quest.

Get The Valkyrie’s Prosthesis

The next part in our Elden Ring Millicent questline includes getting the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis. Getting this is important as you won’t be able to progress through the quest without getting it. For this, you will need to make your way to the Shaded Castle, which can be found in the Atlus Plateau. This castle is located on the northern side of the plateau, and its exact location can be seen marked in the image below.

The Shaded Castle is a pretty amazing location, and there is a lot for you to explore here. You can acquire different things by exploring this castle, but for the sake of the guide, we’ll just stick to what you need to do to get Valkyrie’s Prosthesis so you can continue forward with the questline.

After reaching the Shaded Castle, your main goal is to keep on progressing through it until you come across the Cleanrot Knight, who will be guarding a room. While making your way to this room, you are going to encounter a great number of enemies. But since your focus is to complete the quest as soon as possible, it will be wise to avoid fighting and just run past them. After you reach the Clearnrot Knight, you can either fight him if you think you can take him down quickly. But if not, then you can run past him and enter the room. You’ll find a chest inside this room containing the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis.

Go To The Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace

Now that you have gotten the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis, it’s time to go and meet Millicent once again. To do this, you will need to first travel to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace. Millicent can be found standing northeast of this Site of Grace. Interact with her and hand over the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis that you recently acquired. This will start a conversation with Millicent and make sure you hear everything she has to say. Once done, it’s time to head to the Windmill Village.

The Windmill Village can be found on the north side of the Atlus Plateau. You’ll come across multiple enemies on your way there, but you should keep your focus on running past them. Engaging in unnecessary fights is only going to slow you down.

After reaching the village, activate the Windmill Village Site of Grace and then make your way up through the village. Here, you will encounter the second boss of the questline, Godskin Apostle.

Defeat The Godskin Apostle Boss

Compared to the first boss you faced while progressing through the Millicent questline in Elden Ring, Godkskin Apostle is stronger, and you will need to be extremely careful while fighting him. Godskin Apostle happens to be a boss who can move and attack quickly. One wrong move can get you killed over and over again, and we all know how annoying it can be. The first thing you need to know about this boss is that his weakness is Bleed damage, so you will need to take a weapon with you that is capable of dealing Bleed damage. The boss is going to use a variety of attacks throughout the fight, including spinning attacks. You can’t counter such types of attacks, so it’s just best to back off when he’s executing them. However, the moment he stops spinning, you need to land a few hits on him instantly. Your main strategy against him should be to dodge all of his attacks and land a strike on him whenever you can. Like all the other bosses in the game, this one will also become more aggressive after you drain around half of his health, so make sure you’re prepared for that too. And since this boss is pretty quick, we’ll recommend you get the Bloodhound Step Ash of War, as this will let you dodge attacks quickly.

After you successfully take down Godskin Apostle, you’ll be able to pick up the Godskin Peeler and Scouring Black Flame incantation from its corpse. The Godskin Peeler is an excellent Twinblade for those who have a pure Melee build. However, you’ll need a high dexterity character to wield it properly. Activate The Windmill Heights Site of Grace

A new Site of Grace is also going to appear near you called the Windmill Heights Site of Grace. Rest at this Site of Grace, and you’ll find Millicent nearby it. She will have the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis fitted to her arm this time. Interact with her and make sure to hear everything she has to say. Once done, rest at the Site of Grace, and Millicent will now have moved to a new location.

Go To The Mountaintops of the Giants

To meet Millicent again, you will need to go to the Mountaintops of the Giants. This location in Elden Ring isn’t easy to access, but you need to go there if you want to progress through the Millicent questline in Elden Ring.

You will first need to get an item called Rold Medallion to get there. This is a medallion that will let you activate the Grand Lift of Rold, thanks to which you’ll be able to access the Mountaintops of the Giants. First, go to Leyndell, Royal Capital, where you’ll encounter a boss named Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. This is an S-Tier boss in our Elden Ring bosses tier list, so you won’t be able to take him down easily. Unfortunately, it is not an optional boss, so you’ll need to put him to rest.

Defeat Godfrey and Margott

Now, the boss fights don’t end here. Along with Godfrey, there is yet another boss who you’ll need to defeat to progress through the questline. To face him, you will need to go straight from where you fought Godfrey and towards the balcony’s right side. Then, look around for a branch, thanks to which you’ll be able to go to the upper level of the building. Then, keep on making your way forward until you cross a bridge and come across a Site of Grace called Queen’s Bedchamber. You’ll then see stairs leading up to an area, and this is where you are going to find Margott, the Omen King.

Margott is, without a single doubt, one of the toughest bosses to take down in Elden Ring. He’s an S-tier boss who has different tricks to use in combat. By looking at him, you might think of him as Margit, The Fell Omen, because of how he looks. However, you need to understand that both are different in terms of difficulty, as Margit was fairly easy to defeat compared to this new boss.

Before fighting Margott, make sure you have the right weapons equipped in your arsenal. If you’re someone who uses shields, then make sure you choose one from the best shields available in Elden Ring. The fight with Margott will have you dodging his attacks again and again. Your strategy against him will be first to learn his attack patterns and see all kinds of attacks he uses in combat. We will also recommend choosing one of the best Elden Ring builds, as this will help you get the upper hand in combat. Throughout the fight, you will constantly need to dodge every attack Margott throws at you and then land an attack on this powerful foe when you find an opening. It will take you a while before you can take down Margott, but defeating him is necessary to proceed further in both the campaign and Millicent’s questline in Elden Ring.

Go To The Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace

Now that you have reached the Mountaintops of the Giants while progressing through the Millicent questline in Elden Ring, it’s time to go and find Millicent again. For this, you will need to go to the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace. This Site of Grace can be found south of Castle Sol, and you can see its exact location marked in the image below. After reaching this location, you’ll find Millicent standing next to the Site of Grace. Talk to her and see what she has to say. Millicent will talk about how you can access the Haligtree by using a secret Haligtree medallion.

Meet Millicent in the Prayer Room

Getting this medallion is a time-consuming and challenging task, but the process is easy if you know what to do.After you have gained access to the Haligtree, you will need to keep on going forward until you reach the Prayer Room Site of Grace. This entire process will have you encountering multiple enemies, and some of them won’t be easy to take down. Furthermore, before entering the Prayer Room, you will first need to take down another boss named Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree boss.

Loretta won’t be that difficult to take down compared to the boss you faced previously. She moves and attacks quickly, so make sure you have the weapons to counter this. Also, it is important to remember that you must keep the fight with Loretta outside the Prayer Room. Otherwise, you’ll put Millicent in great danger. I mean, what’s worse than progress all the way through the Lands Between, fighting tough bosses, only to see Millicent getting killed by a boss you’re trying to fight. Therefore, make sure not to enter the Prayer Room after the fight has started. Once the fight is over and you have successfully defeated Loretta, go inside the room and talk to Millicent.

After talking to her, keep on progressing through Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree until you unlock the Elphael Inner Wall Site of Grace. This can be found in the lower parts of the Haligtree, and you can see its location in the image below.

Make Your Choice

You will need to progress further until you find the Drainage Channel Site of Grace. Then, you will need to look around for a Scarlet Rot pool that will have the Grave Grave Glovewort right at the center. But as you try to get it, an Ulcerated Tree Spirit will come out of the pool, and you’ll need to defeat it to progress further. You will then need to look around for two summoning signs. This is where the Elden Ring Millicent questline gets interesting, as you’ll need to make a big choice.

There will be two summoning signs in front of you, and you’ll need to choose one of them. Choosing the Red sign will allow you to kill Millicent and acquire her Prosthesis. This will make the quest come to an end.

But were you doing this quest only to betray her at the end? Or do you want to save yourself from some trouble you got yourself into? If you belong to the latter group, you’ll need to choose the Golden sign.

This will allow you to help Millicent in defeating her four sisters, at the end of which you’ll get the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia Tailsman. This Tailsman can increase the power of successive attacks, thus making it an ideal choice against either a group of enemies or a single powerful boss.

How To Get Miquella’s Needle

After aiding Millicent in combat, you will need to rest at the Drainage Site of Grace and then go to where you found the summoning signs. Here, you’ll find Millicent on the ground. Talk to her to engage in a final conversation with her, and then go and rest at the Site of Grace again. Return to Millicent, but you’ll find her dead body this time. If you loot her body, you’ll acquire the Unalloyed Gold Needle, which you can later use to get the Miquella’s Needle.

To get Miquella’s Needle, you will need to go to the Haligtree Roots, where you’ll need to take down Malenia, Blade of Miquella. This boss is also a bit challenging, but it’s nothing compared to the previous bosses you took down. After you successfully take her down, you can use the Unalloyed Gold Needle at the flower she leaves behind to get Miquella’s Needle.

How To Tame the Flame of Frenzy in Elden Ring

The Miquella’s Needle is a key item to undo the Flame of Frenzy ending. In our Elden Ring best ending guide, we have already talked about this handing and how bad it is. Many players went down this route without realizing the damage it would cause, which made them regret their decisions. If you somehow end up getting the Flame of Frenzy mark and now regret it after learning about the kind of ending you’ll get because of it, you’ll be glad to know that there is a way through which you can undo the entire process. To do this, you will need to pay a visit to the Dragonlord Placidusax.

The Dragonlord Placidusax is a hidden boss in Elden Ring, and he is one of the strongest as well. He isn’t the kind of boss you can take down quickly, as you’ll need proper planning while fighting against him.

After entering the arena where Dragonlord Placidusax is, you will need to equip Miquella’s Needle and use it. This will allow you to tame the Flame of Frenzy, after which you won’t wear the mark anymore. In other words, you will save yourself and the others from a pretty disturbing fate. For those who don’t know, the Flame of Frenzy ending has you witnessing the destruction of the Erdtree and everything around it. In other words, you will only end up making things worse in the Lands Between.
